This project will bring fourteen children from
Palestine with two leaders to join a group of the same size from London to
learn about each other's lives and cultures and to work together to make short
pieces of drama to put themselves in each other's places.
Before the exchange, the children on both sides will
collect photographs and items of interest from the places they live in and work
on short sketches as a way to explain about to their new friends about their
lives.
The first part of the project will be a residential in
the British countryside, a new place for all of them; this will be a time of
exploration, practical activities and discussion. They will learn about the
other group and together meet young people from a local twinning group and have
a discussion about the many different places that they know.
The second part of the project will be in London, where
the British young people will introduce the Palestinians to their city -
tourist sites and local areas - and to local people in youth clubs and schools
where they will join in discussions and practical activities including
drama. Each day the young people will
have a drama workshop , working in small groups to imagine the lives of others. One day will be
spent making animated film on the subject of 'changing places.'
The young people will have a chance to show their work
at a public event about children's rights to be opened by a European
representative. The young people from the project will talk about what they
have learned during the previous days, and show the films and the drama they
have prepared.
At the end of the project, the participants will have a
special day out in Brighton to see the
sea and celebrate their achievement.
