Changing Places project 2013

This CADFA exchange *(organised by Camden Abu Dis Friendship Association and funded by Youth in Action) took place in July 2013. Young people from Palestine and Britain met to learn about each other's lives and build a drama production which they showed in public at the end of the project.

This was a wonderful experience for those involved in it but it had a horrible problem at the beginning. One of the Palestinian group leaders, the Headteacher of Abu Dis Boys' school, was prevented by the Israeli border guards from travelling out of the West Bank to Jordan - He tried twice, but was not able to come with the group.

This meant huge changes to the programme, which had been planned to begin with a country residential in Devon and then finish in London. We lost the Devon time (the Palestinian participants stayed for a week in Jordan instead) and changed the London dates to allow a bit of extra time to complete the project.

At the end of the time, the Palestinians had a holiday - this was after the Youth in Action project and while they were waiting for a rebooked plane back.
